-The ïn-Chief of the South Atlautic blockade fleet, is Dot so wedded to his 15-inch guns, as to be insensible to the progress of ordnance ideas. Thero is now in course of construction, and alraost ready for an experiment, a gun devised by him, whích, if successful, will not only be in keping with modern theories, but will revolutionize naval artillery. Soiue idea may be formed of the magnitude of the innovatiou from the fact that the new piece ia intended to burn twice as muoh powder as the 21-ton gun, which now cansumes thirty-five pounds at a single discharge. There is also being construeted, under the supervisión of an inventor, whose name ia associated with the origin of a new navy,a tremendous canbod, caleulated to withstand, on ship board, the explosión of ninety pouada of gunpowder. ï" Sendyour ittle chriklren to bed happy.
