■A pondent of the Providencie Journal, writing from Mis.-.issippi, givo the following nccotmt of tho discovery of Jeff. Davis' library : "The books were difcovered onlv by accident. They were put tip io liirge, ptrong boxea, bound with hoops of ron. The contents of these boxes were oon brought to light, and hundreds of trophies secured, while vohnnos bound in every variety of rich binding - poetry, history, seience, the giftg of friends from every part of Ihe United States, Congressional docnnientH and etatistics, private and politica] fttters and letter books, into which were copied the correspfxidence of yeare, written in the ncrawling hand of their forrner possessor; in fact, everything that e.xistH on pnper of greutsst private ralue to the rebel Presi-ient, lay heaped upon the fioor in one huye pife, over which the soldiers walked with dirty feet, or wbich they tossed hitbe-r and thither, as thoy appearect to be of more or loss value n trophies of their formor owner. The library was secreted in the house of a Mr. Cox, who n-a formerly fitowat'd of Mr. Davi.
