Fortress Monroe, Aug. 2. The steamer Escort arrived with. Newbern dates to August 1. The Raleigh (N. C ) Standard denounces Jen' Davis as a repudiator, ia vphom no coufidenco can be placed, aud whose efforts to establish a Southern Confederaey will be a failure. The Rich mond Enquirer calis upon Davis to suppress the standard ana wipe out the Supruuie Court of' North Caroliua. The Standard says Gov. Vanee will stand by the Supreme Court aud the Standard also, if necessary, and if Jeff. Davia atterapts to use physical forcé to suppress the Standard, Davis will be met with physical forcé, acd a rcolution in that State would be the result. The Standard pays North Carolina has furnished 95,000 soldiers for the causeless war, 40,000 of whom are killed and wounded ; that North Caro'iua should send a delegatiöu to Washington at once and see vvhat terms eau be obtaioed, aud not wait for Jtff. Davis. The recent eavalry raid froin Norfolk to Jackson, N C, fouud the enemy 8trooglv intrenched at Jackson, which CODlmaud the approach to Weldon. Major Anderson, on the 26th, captured ihe enemy's pickets and took posession of an important bridge, thereby defeating the eueuiy in his iuteution.
