Rendthe following specimen of Slave-holding cant and insolence7 by Judge Buckner, whcn prónouncing sentence.on'; a Northern Freeman, who was guiltless of crime in the sight of HeavenV Judge Buckner: "Stand up, Calvin Fairbank. You have been convictedby an impartial jury of your countrymeif1 upon three indictments for the abduction' of slaves from this coinmonwealth. ThO crime of which you have been guilty is rf' exavc and hcinoiis one: is is crime which1 not only injuriously aflects the persons whoso properly you have stolen, but ono which affects in a high degree this whote community ; which strikes at iis peace awí tranquility, nay, af iis very exisience,- THE LAW UNDER WHICH YOU STAND CON VtCTED ISA MER'Gl-RiTT.
