Plii'li.delphia, Sept. 7. The transport New Jersey, from Charv lestou on the 3d, arrived. Opera tions were processing favorahly. On the first thcre was a general engagement between the iron-cladg and Forts Sumpter, Wagner and Moultrie. Much damage waa done to the forts. The fleet Captain, Osear C. Badger, sucoessor (o Captain Rodgers, had his leg broken bj a shell. It is feared amputation will be necessary. The Ironsides was at anchor, but not engaged. VVhen tho New Jersey left, four monitors had gone up, ready for action, and were nearly abreat of Fort Sumpter, preparatory to inakiiw a new attaek. The land batteries were night and day. The bombardmenl of the city had not been resumed, but new batteries would open at the proper time. The army was in fine spirits. Gilmore was working with the utmost energy, and all were confident of succes!.
