A gentleman carne to Hartford to attend a convention wbich met in a public hall. He reached the building in wliieli , the hall is situated, but found it difficult to discover the meeting, being puzzled by the winding stairs. He opened various doors on the way up, without gctting the riszht one Now, it so happens that a suit of rooms in the building is ocoupied by a man and his wife. The wife was in the bed-room, which leads from the hallway, taking a bath, and was thereforo not in proper dress to receive a visitor in her natural Eve costume, when the rural gentleman opened tho door to her room, which she had neglected to look. He hadgotwithin the doorway before the adv discovered him, and he was so as onished that he neither moved one way or the other. She employed the time ery lively in gathering up some articles of apparel about her person. All of a audden the wondering mortal at the door burst out : " Madam, I am trying to find the eonvention in Hall, but I judge from appearances this isn t the place." 3be thought so
