-In our last issue we gave some particulars concerning the íate conflagration of Ayer's celebrated Medica! Laboratory, located in this city. Frorn all the informatiou we have since been able to gather, we ure of the opinión that their loss wil] amount to some $75,000 or $80 000 although no exact estímate has been renched. Notwithstanding this great loss, including thu partial dontruetion the three upper stories of the block they occupy, filled wrh eoinplicated rnaehinery, costl}' stock, inanulacturing ana printing material the finn have, with that indomitable energv whiuh öharacterizes al] their operations, already effected arrangement by" vvhich their building will.in two weeks, bo so far repaired that they wil] resume busi nesstoa considerable extent. ín the maantime, they have converted the large eburch owned by thuin, corner of Merrimack and Central Streets, nto a rnanufactory office, where iheir operatinns are already n progrèSs, and we presume thir patrons, (;hik1 their name is "legión, ")will hardly beat all embarrassed by the disaster, We heard the opinión espressed bv our eitizens, during the progresa of the fire, that it would probably cauae the removal of this characteristic establish ment lo some more central localitv, like Philsidelphia or New York. It wás even proposed to petition the Messrs. Ayer against such a step, which would prove ii serious loss to Lowell ; but we are glad tn see that present indications clearly denote their intention to remain with us, where their business relations, with thelnrgest half of mankind, have
