Washington, Nov. 4. The brief official statements from Major General Thomas, relativo to the recent fight at Wauhatchie, have already been published, but the followig. frora Quarterma8ter General Meigs, dated Oct. 29th, possesses additional interest: "Last night the Eleventh Corps entered on t bis central campaign, Gen, Geary, sorne four miles up the Lookout Valley, heing attacked by Geo. Longstreet. The Eleventh Corps about 11 o'clock, passing two steep, wooded hills abtfut 150 leet in height, received a volley from a. rebel force hich had occupied and intrenched their sutumita. After dark iour regiments assaulted the west hili, and, without firing a shot, steadily advanced oy the light of the moon and drove the rebels out of their rifle pita and down the slope of the hill. Thirty-one dead oldiers attest the ditficulty of tbe asault and valor oí our troops. When these hills were taken they marebed to the assistance of Gen. Geary, who held nis positioa and Longstreet was driven back."
