- -ne miagara ialls Uazette saya that withiu the past few days surveyors have been surveying the short route for a ship canal between Lewieton and the river above the Falis, to connect the upper and lower lakes. This is proparatory to the presentation of a bilí in Congress for the construction of the great chain of ship canals from the Mississippi to the Atlantic, of wbich this place will form an important part. It is understood that Hon. D. C. Littlejohn, of Oswego, has the bill in preparation, and will present it at an early day. The preposed route of this great International Ship Canal will be from the Mississippi River to the tide-water at New York, via Keokuk, Chicago, Niágara Falls, Lewiston, 8t. Lawrence River, Lake Champlain, and the Hudson River.
