This Society was organized November lltb, 1862. A report of the labora and results of the first yoar waa published. This repc-rt will embrace cnly the operations of the Society frorn November 11 th, 1862, to November lltb, 1863. It is with pleasure that we atill boar testiiiiony to the continued and increasing liberality of the peoplo. Appeals have been made to them again and again, and have never been made in vain. Manv touchinc J O instances of self-sacrifico have been met. which, though Dot suited to be related here have given us such glimpses of the possibilities of the human heart, as to increass our faith !n humanity, and inspire us with gratitude to our Heavenly Father. It is due to the people of this vieinity to state, that probably not one-half of their benefaotion3 hara been distributed by this Society. It is the duty of the offieers of the Society to keep an account of all receipts and disbursements. This we have endeavored to do. But as the goods donated are generally made into garments, and other supplies are often pickled, or their character otherwise changed, it has been thought sufficient to publish an account of disbursements alone, escept the money receipts, whieh account is kept by the Treasurer, whose report will aecompany this.
