Cut timber from thü middle of September, to the iniddle of December, and you cannotget a worm into it. - October aud Novembar are perhapa the best inonths, and sure to avcud the worms. You cut from Maroh to June, and you cannot save tbe timber from the worras or borers. May used to be called peeliug time; much was theu done in procuring bark for the tanncries, when the sap is up n the trunk and all the pores are full of sap; wheroat in üctober these porea are all ompty - tlien is the time to cut, and there vvill be no worma. When you see an os-bow with the bark tight, there are no worras, to powder-post and you cannot separate it írom the wood, and what is true in one kind ia true in all kind cf timber, and every kind has its peculiar kiud of worm. The pine has, I believe the largest worms; and these worms work for many years, I have found them alive and al work in white oak spokes that I knew had been in my garret over twelve years, and they wure much larger thun at first; they do not stop in the sap, but continue iü the solid pan. I do not think of buying timber unless it is cut in the timo alluded to. I have wondered that thero ba3 not been more said on this subject, as it is one of great itnportaoce, even for tirewood, and cspecially fur ship-building, &c-
