The trial of Henry B. Cleveland, charged ,th murdering John C. Depew, at Chelsea, ,n the lOth of September last, wbieh we announced in our last issue as in progress, was oncludcd on ïriday, and resnlted in a verliet of guilly. The jury was out but a briflf time, and their fenficí was anücjpated by the Court, officers, and all acqnainted With ;he circumstnnces surrounding the case. He ,-as sentencedon Saturday morning to. imnisonment in tbe State Prison for life, and ras imuiediately taken by Sheriff Winegar to wkson. 0. VanRiper, convicted on charge of asjault and battery with intent to kill bis brothffl was senteuced to the Stato Prison, on ffednesday, for 7 years. Th People vs. Sanford L. Gadfrey, Information for Larceny - conimonly known as the Sheep-stealing case - was taken up on Monijaj, and is still in progress. Prosëcuting ttóroey Chase is assisted by Messrs. HirtrKissanJ Josi.iN, and Godfrey is defended by Messrs. G. V. N. Lotekop, of Detroit, and H. J, Bekes of this city.
