We were unal'le to witness tlie trials of speed on the track of tho Oounty Agricultu, ral Society, during the recent Horse Sliowand therefore borro w the following report frora the Free Prets : The animal meeting of the Washtenaw Association for the Improvomcnt of Horses was held on the fair grounfls in Ann Arbor, on Friday, Satarday snd Momlay last. There was a vory gratifying exhibition of trotling and carriage stook, and over eight hundied dollars in premiums were awarded. Fiest Dat. - Single horses to harness, two mile heats, best two in three, open to all trot; ing horses. B. Green, of Ann Arbor, nained black stallion HenryCiay; Frank 6. Pultz of Adrián, nained Borrel stalliou Slockbrklge Chief; John Demas, of Detroit, named bay mare Lady Ida ; John Williams, of Culdwater, named brown gelding, Toby. Time: - First Heat- Lady Ida, 6:1 ; Toby, 6:2 ; Olay, 0:5. Second heat- Toby, 5:53 ; Ida, 5:05 ; Clay, 5:58 Third Heat- Lady Ida took the heat and race in 5:47 ; Toy, 5:48. Chiefs time nol noted. The second trial was a trotting match, open to all horses owned in Washtenaw county, mile heats, best threo in live, to harness - by compvouiise of partios, enaugea to uest i two in three. B Green, named Ilenry Clay ; F. B. Hooper, of Ann Arbor, ïiamed bay mare Lady Hooper ; S. ff. Niblack, of Tecr.mseb, nanied brown gelding, llatt Root. Time: First Heat- Clay, 3:11 ; Lady Hooper, 3:18 ; Root, 3:24. Secand heat- Clay, 3.0; Lady Hooper, 3.20- Clay winning the heat and raco. Secoxd Day. - Doublé teams open to all horses in the State, any two horses to be driven together irrespective of ownership, mile heats best three in five, .Jay stallion Daniel Boon (alias Curly.) and brown gelding Toby, named by John Williams of Coldwater; bay mare Lady Ida, and black stallion Henry Clay, driven together- the former named by John Demas, of Detroit, and the latter by B. Green, of Ann Arbor ; sorrel stallion Stockbridge Chief, and brown gelding, Jimmy, named by Frank S. Pultz, of Adrián ; black mare Lady Clay, and brown gelding Snap; driven togother- the former named by G. Baskin, of Freedom, and the latter by Jamos B. Newland, of Ann Arbor. The contes; as between the Adrián team and Ida and Clay, the former taking the race on the fourth heat, but the latter doing some excellent trpttipg. Ida and Clay drew the inside, wi:h Bone and ïoby secoud. The following was the score-. Ist. 2d. 3d. 4l h. There was an exhibition of single carriage horses, but not a trial of speed, for wlrch the .ollovving entries were made : Lady Hooper, by owner ; Smith Boy, by Frank S. Pultz, of Adrián; Hamiltouian, by J. AtCMinson, of Salem. The firsl premium Vas was awarded to Lady H oper and the second to Hamiltonian . Tiiird DAY-Trotling match open to all troting horses, mile heats, best three in five , to harness. The entries for this trial were Daniel Boone, Henry Clay, Lady Clay, and Lady Ida, takiug position in order named.- Boone wou the heat and race on the thir.t trial. Scare . Ist, 2d. 3d. Boooe 2 52 2.49 2 40 Henry Clay... 2.58 2.55 2.54 Lady Clay distanced, Lady Ma 2.53 2.50 2.45. The second contest was open to all trotting horses that had not taken a first premium, mile heats, best three in five, to harness - The entries were Heury Ciar, Lady Hooxer. and Stockbridge Chief, taking pasition in order nanied.
