It is wortliy of observalion how geneerally diflued is the political antislavery sentiment through the Free States. - While more than si.xty thousond votes were polled last yenr, (bemg almost equal to the united Presidential vote 6f Rhode lsland, Delnware, Arknnsas, and Louisiana,) the Liberty party have not been able to carry a single county in the United States! Yet therewere votes for Biniey in no less than 401 counties. The proportion of these counties in the respective States is os follows:Thus the Liberty party finds advocates in four-fiftlis of all the counties in the Free States. We commend this fact to the attention of the Slaveholders and their allies. This general diflusion of the Liberty vote is highly favorable to the progression of its principies among all classes, and to its success ns a natioiml party. VVere all the Liberty voters Consolidated under the most favorable circumstances, they might, perhaps, elect several Governors nnd a dozen or a score of Members of Congress. But their influence would te then local and far less efficiënt than it now is. By this general diflusion, they can keep the subject in constant agitation through all the North; and the public presses, the courts of Justire, the Legislatures and the ecclesiastical judicatories in the several States are cc mpel led todis cuss it, whether they are willing to do so or not. For our part, we are not at all in haste to carry counties or States, if we can only see the leaven of Abolitionism, steadily extending into every portion of our country. We shall be satisfied to 'make haste slowly." We would improve this topic by suggesting to our readers that they see to it that there be not a single town in the State which shall not have at least one Liberty voter. When your Cotinty Conventions shall be held, let the quesiion be raised in every meeting - how many towns in our county have given one vote Tor Liberty? If there be any such, let jrovision be immediately made for convertingsome of its citizens by means of ectures, distributing papers, or otherwise, who shall be representatives of Liberty irinciples.
