New Confederate Money
ington correspondent of the N. Y. News gives the following desoription oí the new Confedérate money : During the recent rebel raid it was a noticeable feature that the Confedérate money with whieh tbey were provided was wholly diöerent frorn that hitherto in circulation atnong them. This is printed on much finer paper, slightly tinged with pink, and the engraving fully equals our "greenbucks." The backs of these notes are blue, and so lar as I can judge, counterfeitcrs will expeiience even greater difficulty in getting up gnod imitatious of thetn than of ours. They valued their money in Maryland at 50 per cent, in '"greenbacks," or 25 per cent, iu gold, and state that from the date of its first issue it has stoadily advancod in value. The old issue has nearly all been withdrawu from circulatiou by the government. This new cnrrency is redoernable in coin after a certain date, 1875, I think, and convertible into bonds based "on cotton, either of the old or new issue, at a certain rate of per centage. In other words, its valué may be made accumulativu by interest if couverted iuto government securities.
