I be Democratie CoDgressional Convention for this district, convened at JacksoD, on Friday last, nominated Hon. David Johnsojí, of Jackson, as tlie candidato of the Democracy for Representativo in Congres. We need not teil the Democracy of Washtenaw (Jounty who David Johnson is. They have known him long, as afaithful, consistent, firm Democrat ; they have known him as an intelligent and upright Judge ; and they koow hita as an ablo advocate of Democratie priuciples, those principies which must be recognized in .the future administration of the government, or the Union go down in wreek and ruin. We thiuk the Convention aeted wisely, and we inscribe Judge Jounson's name on our bauner, fully salisfiod that he will do-his duty in the campaign, and that if clected - as tho signs of tho times indícate that he will be - the Third Oongressional district of Michigan will have a Representativo in Congress of whom it will have reason to feel proud. Kally for Johnson. L3C liet every Democrat, and every Republican, too, read the Harrison'es Landing letter of Gen. McClbllan, to be found on the first page of this sheet. It is a clear enunciation of his views, touching the greut question at issue in thiscainpaign, and unmistakably marks him a patriot and statesman. Had its views beeu listened to and carried out, the rebellion would have been crushed and the Union restored beforo this. With Geueral McClellan in the White House, both of those very desirable objeets can yet, and speedily, be accomplished.
