Autumn Snow
Through all the amber wood and rassel ground, The autumn rain halh poured a plenteous flood ; All day the winds have made an ominous sound, And from the old barnyard there does reSüund. A gariulous quarrel mid the feathered brood. The honest oxen gaze in rueful mond, From out the slied, where each a shelter gains. Aüd garnered 'ueath its golden treasure bends, That yearly almoner, old Autumn, sends But lo ! a white visión sudden reigns, And floating snows succeeds the falling rains, The mighty flakes in multitude descernís - Ah, feathery snow, vvhat pleasure dost thou bring ! I see the dashing steeds - I hear the sleigh bells ring !
