Nnw Yokk, Jan. 3. A Hüton Head spe-jial of the 26th gays Kilpatrick's corps haa just returned frorn destroying a portion of the Albany and Gulf llailroad near Altahama river. Fifty locomotives and a largo nuniber of cars are ehut up betvveen Albany and Altahama river. GeD. Hnzen's división of the 15th corps, and Gen. Fuller, wilh two brigades of the I7th corps, also spent fiye days on this railroad. A plank wagon road was found leading froiu tbe railroad toward Darien, from vvhich part of a heavy train, loaded from blockade runners, passed into the interior. A forcé of eavalry aocompauied by Dfautry has crossod iuto South Carolina. Obstructions in the Savannah river are being rapidly and successfully rtmoved. Boa. 8 run daily from this point. Graat quantities of valuable property are daily brought to light. Our army is in camp, in nuinerous parks and yard8 of the city. The cotton captured ut Savannah by Sherrnan, ia to be brought here and sokl. Collector Diaper has been directed to proceed to Savannah, and examino -md take testimony felative to ita owners' rights, if they have auy, which will bo settled hereaf'.ei'. v Driipar will leave for Savannah lomorrow. Somo vessels, whose ownera hope to go to Savannnh, have cleured from Port Hoy al. It is thought Savannah will be opened to commerce immediately after the cotton has been shipped.
