A contributor to the Country Gentleman fivea' soino pertinent hints about iaakiug butter in winter. He says that makmg'good yellow bntfcer in winter wül depend on certain conditions and oontingenoies which are as follows : lst. A oow must Lave a good sapply of good hay, that haa been made of good gras, out before the blossom has fallen, and cured properly, vithout having been wet, whila it was being cnred. 2d. A few orange carrots dnilj - not reduoed to a fino pulp and mingleci with butter - but fed to the cow in conneotion with a few pounds of Indian meal, made of yellow corn. 3d. A yoou supply of good coru-stalka - not those that have been frost bitten and weather-beaten. 4th. A good covv, with yellow skin about the udder is very essential. 5th. A cow in good oondition - not one as peor as 'povertyation.' 6th. A good stable, woll littered, and an abundanco of clean water for tho cow to drink. 7tu Never allow tha milk to freeae.
