36veral nne colors produced trom the residum of petroleum. One is u bright and fixed cerulean blue, perhaps a shado darker, but still a3 brilliant, and ia called the Humboldt color. The procesa is kept a seciret by tbe discoverers, who iré Germán chemists. It ia stated thal these colors are produced from a com bination of naptha and tar. Another delicate and Lshionablo color ia a light blue called "azuline" which, as well as the now íamous and popular color "magenta" is produced from petroleum. A fourth, called "roseine" is in course of experimeDt. These colors are aseertaiüedby droppÍDg the oil ín a certain state, nto the water, by whiuh the most beau;iful hues are brought out.
