TLo New York JVorld devotos several columns to a'detniled statement of the immense property held by Trinity Church, in that city. lts renl estáte (iriginally eonsisted of 2,068 loS, grantcd it by Kiug William III, in 1697. BI nee 1748, 318 lots have boen given away, 1,1559 have beensold, 691 remain ; ■jet, owing to the risa of property, the Value of tha remaiuiug lots is very rauoh greater than the original value of the vvhole. Win. 13. Astor leases a largo mmber of tho lots, whioh, leasea will espire at the close of May, 1866, when the Cliurch will como intO full possession of tb cru. Theii1 value is estiraated at 86,000,000. The Astor leiwe indudes 3;l(i Iota, 'which were let in 1767, ut ftevciitv-five cents yearly per lot for a term of ninety-uiue years. They are all occupied by buildings wliich bring Mr.1 Astor high reuts, and comprise BOiae of the most valuabla sites in the First, Third, Fifth, Eighth and Nintb Warüs. Mr. Astor, pnys Trinity Ohapel 8269 per annum for all the lots, being about seventy-üve cents for each. If we éSfimate the rental from each building" on these lots at the low average of ?500, tho fortúnate lease hokler must receive on au invested capital of S269, au iaooino of $168,000 per annum ! In a few yeara all the loases given by Trinity to various partios will expire; anS tbe property wül revort back to the oorporatiou. The value of tho whole real estáte will thon, it is sairl, not fall ftir short of twenty millious of dollars, Referrittg to the 4th of July celebiatioti at OldJoint, a correspond ent of the Philadelphia Inquirer says : An inadvertent joke was perpotrated yesterday at liichmou by tha humane and galknt Miss ourgeon Walker. Among the visitors at the late rebel capital, were tKe officers of the British gunboat Styx. Miss Walker, M'. D., ïnistaking them for officers of our own navy, invited them to a seat on the platform. Tho English officers accepted, and when they were comfortably seated, Miss Surgeon Walkef aroso, and read with good etíiphas's and discretiou "The Dcclaration of Independonce."
