Balkley, co-inmander of the expedstion, and his stuff and a nuniber of employees,, sailed on tho 12th for tho Gulf of Anad ir and the shores of Behring' Straks. The land foroe of tha expedttion eomprises abottt 1,500 men. There are other ressols sttachod to the service. The bark PalmeUo, whioh rcoently sailed from Nanamo, and the bark Clara Heil, uow enroute from New York to Sitka direct. Tho fleet is under tho co.Timand of Capt. O. W. ScainmoD, of the Revonue Service. Tho vesricl ülara Bell carried a cable to be laid across Behring's Btraits, nncl a email steairor ior rivor explorations.
