Tho followiug nominations wero made: For governor, Gen. Thos. H. Benton, of Pottamatteu ; for lieufceDiuit goverunr, Ooi. ti. T. Van Anda, of Dehuvate ; for supremo judge, Col. H. H. Trumbuíl, ol Davií ; fue super intéadeut of public inotruclion, Capt. J. W. Lenuott, of Jasper. All thü nomiuaüons were made by aoolamation. At 11 o'cloek Uiis morniag, the Demooratiu 'couventioa assenibled. ïhO at teudaucc was large, nearly every county ■in the .State being represented. The iifternoon session was harmonioua and enthusiiistio. Speeches wcre mude by prominent gentlemen, and resolutions were ndoptad clearly defining tho views of tho conservativo raasseS of tho citizeas of lowa. It was resolved to make nn nominations, and the Dominees of the soldievs' eonventioD, held yesterjay, were indorsed. Dalegates irom tho different countios all report the feelitig as Btrohg against negro sufi'rage aiad those who uphoïd the doctrino.
