In building an eugine purposely íor such fuel, mnny tilinga inight bu arranged advantugeously ; but there is no diff'erenoe in npplying tho principio to any exietiüg engines. The advantages are abaenoe oí' smoke and dirt, and no.xious gases, and ooul duHt, and occasioual coal on the rails. The Provisional Governor of Alabttina, judging from tho doeuments to which he has acces!, oslimates that the fíoutli fiTiiished 1,124,000 men to the Confedérate armieg, oi vvhum 060,000 are dead or disablod.
