We noticed on exhibí tien at the late County Fair several pieces of Oassimeres, mamifactured by Messrs. Portee & Browx, wliicli would have done credit to auy first-class eastern factory. They were of fiue wool, and beautifully flnished. We are not surprised to hear that Messrs. P. & B. 'eau not make enough to supply order, fo.r sueh superior clolhg raust certainly be preferred to much of those brought fromMassachusetts. The McColl Bros., of Pelhi, also exbibited some very flne flannel shirtiogs, and, we tliink, a piece or two of Cassimeres, We wish we had faetones enouh in tbis county to manufacture every pound of wool our growers produce. It inight better be done here insteod of being freighted to Massachusetts and back again. - Another artielo we noticed in the line of home manufactures, was an elegant Blackwalnut Bookease, from the factory of Messrs. Partridge & Lai'frey, made, we believe, ibr our friend C. H. Riciimond? It was accompanied by other articles of handsomely made furniture. This establishment is raanufacturing cabinet work largely, of modern patterns and styles. It also makes mouldinga of the handsomest patterns for picture and mirror frames, an.l besides turns out immense orders of coarser work. It is about to be greatly enlarged we understand. Col. N. Stroxs, of this city, exhibited a fine lot of vegetables. We ospeeially noted hM w r hy of mention two baskets of Steiling Potatoes of bis ovo production, which looked as tliougli they would become valuable and favorite varieties. One variety he has Jiaiued Washtenaw Seedlinf;, and the other ■Ann Arbor Seedling, We hope that other -cultivators will give thern a tridi. - Mr. S. W. Dore, of Manchester,. exhibiied a. uumber of samples of Wine mauufaclured ïrom the Wine Plant alias Rheubarb Plant. - It looked very .fine, and the " tasting committae " pronounced it of excellent quality. This Plant is being largely cultivated in this county, and this yeai' has produced bountifully. - There were also exhibited a number of ■samples of very clear, white, arid beautiful Sorghum Syrup- ïmmes of exhibitors not remembered. Sorghum is a great erop this .year, was ripend well.ar.d is produting a large 3'ield of yrup in quality above tlaat of former yearg. - Our friend Lotal Tower, of Saline, had a fine assortmeut of vegetables oa nxhibition, ancluding puiirpkios, squaehea, weloiis, turnip8, &c. Three pumpkins thown by him were oot remarkable for size, bnt for bing 3 of 25 produced from a single seed, 17 of which ripened. We are indebted to friend Towek íor a large and luscioua Mountaiu Sweet Watei Slelon, the best we have iasted this sason, a.nd for a small wagon lead of-sertmshes, cabbages, ete. Tpwee certainly rememtered the Printer.
