A correspondent seiids us llie follow ing intoresting reminiscence : Juhu Adama soujht Ibe hand uf the daughter oí the Kev. Mr. íSinith uf Weymoutb, and M ss Abiail was pleased to accept the proposal oi' Mr. Adama, much to the chagriu of ihu purson, the objection being that Mr. Adums was a man of humble origin and moderate ability, and couid never aspire to auything more tiian tlie position ot a hum ble viliage lawyer. His visits to ber borne were frequent and prolougud, but no hospilalities were tendered by the liev. Smith, either to Air. Adains or his tiag ; ior while Abigail only bad wa-.ch ful care o?er hiin, his " bay " pussed the weary hours of uigbt n feeding on the hitching-post Now Abigail bad a sister whoso name was Mary, wbo was betrolbod to a wealthier, and it was believed more proutisiog young man, whose preuence was welcomed most cordially by the rever end's family The good parson had promised oach of bis daughters that on the occasion of' their marriage he would preach a sermón from a test of the bride's owu selection. Mary firet married, and " beautifully appropriate " did tbe i'atber think the text, " Aud Mary bath chosen tbut good part !" In due time Abigail marries, aud cbooses for her text, " For John camo neither eating nor driuking, and tbey say he hath a devil." Tradition does not teil ue, as we remember, how the text pleased the father, but tbe ser mon was preached. Miry, indeed, chose a goo 1 part ; her life was a happy one, and her husba d was a man of means and respeotability. Abigail wa a woman of strong aflfeutions, a practical wife, and possessed of great nobility of cbaracter, while tbe naraes of ber busband and son will live as long as tbe love of liberty inspires the soul of man. -
