Examine the vienette, or picture in the tuiddle ot the top ; see if the sky or back ground looks clear and transpjtrent, or soft and even ani not uratchy. 3. Examine well the face ; see if the expressious are distinct and easy, natural and life like, partioularly the eyes. 4 Se if the drapery and dress fits well, looks natural and easy, and shows the folds distinctly. 5. Examine the inedallion, ruling, and heads and circular ornamenta around the figure, etc. See if tliey are regular smooth and uniform, not scratchy. The work, in the geuuine looks as if raised on the paper and cannot be peifectly icnliated 6. Examine the principal line of letters or namo of the bank. See if thev are all upright perfectly true and even; or, ifslopintr, of an uniform slope 7. Carefully examine the -hade or parallel ruling on the faoe or outside o the letters, etc. See if ït is elear, aur look a Í colored with a brush. The fine parallel linee in the genuine are o juni size, and smooth and even.- Counterieits look as if done with èi file 8. Observe the rouud handwritingen graved on the bill, whioh should bt black, equal in bízb and digtance, of a uniform si pe, and sinooth. This ii germine notes is inraiiably well done aud looks very purfeut. In coutiterfeit it is seldotn so, but cften looks stiff, as ; done witb a pen. 9. Notk - It was remarked by Steplie Burroughs before he died, that tw thirigs could not be perfeotly counter feited - one was the dye work, or por trait, medallion heads, vignette, etc, anc the other standing or ruling above tb letter.
