By the Preaidect of the United States of America : A Pkoclamation - W!wrear It bus pleaned Ahnighty God, during the year which is ooit comiug to an end, to re lieve our beloved country froin the iearful scourge of civil war, and to pesinit us to secure the blessings ot p&ace, uüiiy, and bannony, witb a greut enlargemeut of civil libertv , Whereaa, Our Heavenly Fatker has also, duiing the past year, graciously averted from us the calaiaities of' foreigu pestileuce and famine, while our granaries are full of the fiuits of au abundant seaaon ; and Wnereas, Righteousnesss eslts-a na tion, while sin is a reproach to auy peo pie ; Now', thereforo, [, Andrew Johoson, President of the United States, do here by recommend to the pcople thereof, that they do set apart and observo the first Thursday of Decciaber as a day of uational thanksgiving to the Creator of the universe, for these blesingw ; and I do further recommend that on that occa sion the whole people will make a con fession of our national sins agaiost His infinite goodness, and withone heart and mind implore the Divine guidance in the ways of vii tue and hohuess. The Maneiou House estáte, and a large quantity of houehold furniture, belonging io the late Edward Evarett, the statesman and orator, were sold at public auction, in Boston, on Wednesday . The estáte brought about 857,000.
