Springfleld, Mass., well Known as un auinoi and divine, delivered the second lectura in the Students' course, on Saturilay evening last, on which occasion the M, E. Ohurch was completely filled. His subject was " Life as seen at its Moraing and Evening." The leeturer drew the parallel and laid bare the contrasta betw'ecn the views the young and the old entertain O' life. The memories of the young clin tenaciously to tbem, and, eurronnded by , the perplexities of the present, they never tire of Bighing tor "the geod old days," and freely reut Üieir analhemas upon the unlbrtunate oow. Tkis difference the lecturer accounted for on pliilosophical principies. He Alao repudiated the charge tbat the race was degenerating, and there were no great men ín these tatter day. He believed that seienee hd made great progrese, and that art had foJIowea suít and wlien told that there were no great physiciaos, lawyers, divines, 01 etatesraeu oow, said he didn't feel bad for lie iknew Jjetter. There was a vein of humor ranning through the whole leoture that took hold f the audienoe and kept the attention of all ; and there was a lesson taught by it superior to most of the teachings of the lecture platform, the lesson that this life is not ihtall. - Tho next lecture will be delivered on Saturday evening, the ISth, by the Uev, J.
