Sevcral case arising uude the conSscation acts of Congress oi August, 1861, and July, ISÖ'2, ire assigued for hearing in the Suprema Court of the TJnhed State. The cpiestions involved aro of vast interest, espocially to tbe Soutti. Two of Ibera aro tbe caes in wliicli the real estáte of a T. P. Garnet, in the District of Columbia, was condemned; One relates to tho real estáte of Wm. N. McNeigh, which was coodetniicd'in'the District Court at Norfolk, ' Va-., And one froiu the Eastcrn i tricf of Michigan, where a large aiuount ] of railroad stock in the Michigan Southern Railroad, and the Detroit, Mouroe & Toledo Knilrond, the property of ' Samuel Miller, a well known loyal i Een of Lynchburg, Va., was condemned ] These cases icvolve a consideraron of j all the important quesiious that can , ariae uuder these acts of Congress The ' counsel for tho clairnants make the i poiuts that tho proceedings uuder these ] acts wero invalid, because the property was not seized in such a marnier ss to give the district courts jurisdiction ; becuuse the owners had nonotice; ' rauio valid defaults wero not eutcred, i and because there was no trial by jury. The acts of Congress will be aisaled on the ground that tbey are ia conflict 1 with the fif.b, sxtli and eighlh articlcs of the imendmeots to the Contttution ; becnuse tkey provided for criminal pros eutions, and bocnuse the requiremeuts f (hie procesa of law uud trial in tbe district where the nlleged nffenses were oommitted have not been obíervtd. In the cuses frnm the District uf Columbia nd Virginia, Ilon. Caleb Gushing and Judge Curtís, of Boston, will nppear for the claimants. In the case from Michigan, Hon. Wm. P. Wells and Hon. 8. T. Douglass, of Detroit, will appear for the claimante. Tho Utorney General will appeur for the government in all the cacs, and Senator Ëdmnndf appears on bcbalfof the Michigan Southern Railroad- Gumpany, vthioh purolmsed the tock u-nder thu doeree.
