Garnet, in the District of Columbia, was condemned; One relates to tho real estáte of Wm. N. McNeigh, which was coodetniicd'in'the District Court at Norfolk, ' Va-., And one froiu the Eastcrn i tricf of Michigan, where a large aiuount ] of railroad stock in the Michigan Southern Railroad, and the Detroit, Mouroe & Toledo Knilrond, the property of ' Samuel Miller, a well known loyal i Een of Lynchburg, Va., was condemned ] These cases icvolve a consideraron of j all the important quesiious that can , ariae uuder these acts of Congress The ' counsel for tho clairnants make the i poiuts that tho proceedings uuder these ] acts wero invalid, because the property was not seized in such a marnier ss to give the district courts jurisdiction ; becuuse the owners had nonotice; ' rauio valid defaults wero not eutcred, i and because there was no trial by jury. Douglass, of Detroit, will appear for the claimante.
