tion held au ndjourncd meeting at the Court House on Saturday last. The weather beIngvery uufavorable, the attendance wus not largo. A statement was made in regard to obtainlug members and alsoln regard to getting apple barrels. Apple growers wbo represent about 8,000 barrels, have already signed the constitution. Tlie list includes many of the largest orchardists in the county. Hoping to have a llner day the society niljourned to meet at the saine place on Saturday, April Sd, at 2 o'clock r. U. At this meeting there will comcup subjects for discussion whlch -vill interest fruit growers, It is well knowo that the most of orchards contain many nnprofl tabletroes, some seedllngs, others shy bearers, aud Stlil others, the fruit Of whlch is faillug, in the same way that fruit in older States at the cast is deteroiating and bacoraing worth'ess. Now the questlon arises, what sball be done with sucli trees in our orchards, shall wc continue to gather this almost worthless fruit, ffeed some to our stock, aud make eider of others, or shall we look about and sec if more dollars will not uc producen y a tnorougn system ot gralting, and if the latter be tïie best policy, Uien comes the important qucstlon, what is the best market apple tliat is end uring canwegraft. This single questlou, lf properly solved, and tlieu acted upon, will be worth tliousands of dollars to the fruit growers of this county. Don't let us te too wise or self-concelted on this questloo, botli old and j'ouug have made inany errors heretofore on this subject, bat let ns meet together and compare notes, wc may arrive at good resalta. Then comes another important question, as the season for planting fruit trees approaches, it is desirable to know what kinds of fruits are becoming worthless in the great families of eherries and pears, and what are the best varietics to plant for proflt. Some varieties of chcrrles are invariably stung by an insect, and some kinds of pears are becommg worthless on account of cracking. ' The season for pruning is at hand, liow and when shonld this be done to make shy bearers proliflc, shonld be touched upon if we have time. All persons interesteel in fruit growing are lnvlted to be present, whethcr memben or uot. "In the multitudc of counsel there is safety." B. Tbc concert given by tbc University Glee Glub, on Mouday evcniog last, was not as largely atteudcl as ive had anticipa ted, but what it lacked in 'quantity was made up in quality. 'J'iic programmeof the evening wasarranged wiili good skill, the severa! pteces and paris were well performed, and the dellght of the audieuce was manlfestcd by vlgorous applanso. "Noah's Ai-k" and "The Menagerie" brought down the house, as did the "Opera Comique," a complete burlesque of the foshlonable operatic stylc. The gravsr piecea and Studente' songs were also recelved v.ith great favor. The boys deserved a bett r hoase. A heavy rain Btorm o:i Saturday afternoon, nlgltt, and Suuday last, carried off the snow and icc, raised the streams, and made a power of mud in the roads. At the east we hcar of great damage to bridge, aud sundry railroad accidents in consequence. It raincd agaiu Monday afternoon, and Wednesday evenlDg set In for another spell of rain not euded at this writlng-- Thnrsday forenoou. E'glit were for acquittal and four for cooviction. This burlesque - we can speak of it in no otber way - is a fair offset to the nowspaper clamor, and gors a !ong way towards deiermining the foct that tbe courts sbould bo left to legitímate acd regular action in all euch cases. JiUE Snpreme Court will coinmence a regular term, at Detroit, on Tucsday nest, April óth. Wo understand that tho Salotn railroad oaso is the first on the calendar, and that botli sides are rendy for argument. Also that two other cases involving the constitutionality of muncipal aid to railroads are on tho calendar. This being so we may look and hopo for an early and final decisión of the dieputod queetton.
