despite Radical figures and predictione - and elected a Democratie Legislature, SeDator Williams will be per mitted to retire to private life nt the expirntion of his present term, March 4th, 1871. "Tho milis of the gods grind slowly," but they grind, nevertheless, and the timo is only limited by "present terms," when the Pacific elope will not be wws-represented by a single Radical Senator. Jim Xyk and Stewaut and Golk, and the wliole kit can rcad tho hand-writing on tbo wall, and mako up their accounts. WiTiiot'T any deeire to be obnoxiously personal, we may be nllowed to suggest, tbat at tire coming extra session Senator Norris, of this county, will find himself occupying as delicate a position as any fellow member As a inember of the Constitutionul Convention he oppoaed the sections authorizing municipalities to vote aid to railroads, both upon principio nnd expedicney ; and as a meaiber of the Senate lie voted agtinst the general railroad law, holding it both uneonstitutional and impolitic. Now, as President of a railroad company he is personally interosted in having past aid legalized and futuro aid nuthorized. We think, in his case, personal interest will go under to his convictions. Tue first member elected to the FortyBacsod Congrees s James F. Slatek, of Oregon, and he is a Dcmocrat. A good boginiiing.
