The expedition a composed of Charles Frederiek Hartt, professor geology, as Director, and A. N. Pranliss, proí'eesor of Fcionce, Assistant Director with the following oatned special students of Bcience : flor a ce Kendall, Secretary ; T. B. Comsíock, Stenogruplicr and Botanist; H. II. Smith, Geologist ; R. 15. Wilmot, B. Bernard, G. J. H. Powers, O. D. Orderly, P. P. Staoton, 'McDoneld and P. M. Johnson. 5Ir. Ralph Eldridge, of Boston, also acconi panies tho class as a volunteer student. Prof Ilartt will enter Braz 1 at Para and pursue bis investigation and survey of the country froni the head of the Araazon to Pernambuco. It is Lis intentiou to make a careful survey of the coast for the iinproveinant of comtnerco.
