SuDta Fe, N. M., July 2. A letter to the Daily Post from the Grant County, Nuw Mexico, new silver mines, describes the location of the mines as 5,000 feet above the level of the sea. Thcre is fi population at Kalgton, the new village, of two hundred. It is about twenty-five miles from the nearest river. Two hundred and cighty firo ledges have been discovered and over fifty miles of claims are located. - Many of the claims, not being made ia eonformity with Territorial laws, are being thrown out, but are rolocated ubout as fast nsopened. A municipal government lns been formed oud a Recorder eltcted. ïhere is no doubt of the immense wealüv of a great many of the claims. A canal and railway compaoy with a capital of 1,000,000 has been formed to tuke the oro to the milis at the river nud to carry water iu canals to the mines. The mines are iu the heart of tlie Apache Indian country, and the ettleineut will bo a great security to pioneer gettlers and travelers. New and very rioh silver mines havo been discovered eight miles from Furt Bayard.
