Tho next day he was requcsted, by a young man, who, with a lady oompanion. was at the sorAÍco, to cali at his place of business. On arriving at tho placo, he was taken one sido by the young gentleman, who in a tone doubtless intended to strike awe ant fe&X to tho soul of the reverend gcntle man, demanded of him the roason of hi selecting him from that large congrega tim the evening beforo, and porsonall addrussing the sermou to him. " Why, my dear sir," returned the min istor, " I certainly did'nt know you wer in tho house, and how could I addreá you personally, being an entiro strange to you besides." " You must have known I was there for you pointed your nngor at me rnoSt o the time, particularly when you carne t certain things that 1 knew could not ap ply to any one else, but myself." In vain did the good man try to con I vinse the fellow that his sermón was in tended for the good of all, nnrl not for one individual alono, but it was of no uso.
