To keep a lawn in good condition, it stould be mom often, and as soon as the grass is cut it should be raked off, and not allowed to remain in a heap. If this is permitted for twenty-four hours even, heating will tak e place, and the growth is stimulatcd under the beap, and au uneven spot will bo producid. If allowed Ipureinain longer than this, when it is removed the grass will be found to be " blanched," and the color will be injured for the remamder of tho season. Green snnd marl, where it can be obtained, jnakes au excollent top-drossing for lawns ; it has the advantage of beiug perfectly clean, inodorous, and productive of a thick bottoni, and is entirely f ree f rom foul seeds. During dry seasons, occasional â– watering in the evening should not be omitted. If lawns are cut close and often, the grass may be allowed to remain, but only when cut over by a "mower," as the grass then is evenly distributed ; if cut by a scythe, it will lie too unevenly, and must be raked off.
