The birth of this young lady, so well known to many of our readers, is quaintly recorded by hor fither, Sir Kobert . of Maxwelltown, in tho fumily register, in thesj words : " At tho ploasure of Alniighty God, my daughter, Annio Laurie, was borne upon tho lüth day of December, 1682 yoars, about 5 oclock in tho niorning, and was baptized by Mr. Geo. (Huntcr, of Gloncairn.") And bis own marriage is given in tlie same quaint style : " At tho pleasuré of tho Almighty, I wiis marrieu to my wife, Jean ltiddull, apon the 27th day of July, 1674, in tho Tron Kirk of Edinb, by Mr. Annane" These statements I iind ii t'uo valuablo collcetions of manuscripts lei't by tho luto Mr. W.
