The Monday Evening Meeting
A meeting was calle j at the Court House on Monday veiling, to devise ways and rneans to asist the sufferer? at Chicago, at wliich there was a good attoiulauce and a liberal spirit manife.st.ed. Tlie Mayor was called to the cliair, and .Mr. Widrnmasx elected Secretary. The object of the meet ing was bricfly stated by ft. E. Fuazek and business was then entered'upon with a wil!. A coinmittue was appointed tosolicit subscriptionsaud receive such supplies as might be offured ; as also othcr necessary comniittees. The connnittee onsubscrip tious and supplios consists of R. E. Pha zek, O. II. Mn.LEtf, E. DrjFFKT, W. W. Winks, and U. Mack. öubscriptiou papers were then put in circulation, and nearl.v 1,000 raised before adjoürnmcnt. Dtiring the evening the Aun Albor Dramatic Association offered to play " Uuder the Gasllglit" free' of charge upon the followlng' tvening. Their services were accepted, as also the free use of the Opera House, and free lighting of it. A resolution was also passed invitinï the co-operation of the students of the University in this work of charity
