The Winona, JUinn., Republican, speak ing of predictions of a short erop of wheat iu that región, saya: Our own information from those pcrtion of Minnesota and Western W'isconsin, whero winter wheat is produced in considerabli; qnantities, is to tho eifoot that the erop is in au excellent Cuiidition, ind that a t'airer promise than is now presented has seldom been witnessed at ihis soason of the jear. In fonner years thure was but little attention paid in this State to winter wheat, for tho reason thit the climate and soil were regarded as be'rng unfavorable to its culture ; but latterly the experienee of thoso farmers who liave sown winter wheat pretLy exténBively bas damonstrated that, taking oue vear witli another, this fjrain is just as lure to yield as well here, in favorable ocationb, as in Illinois or Missouri.
