During tho year 1871 thpro wero eoristructod along tho linus of 121 ditforent railways, 3,198 1-2 milos ofnew tolegrnph linee, using 10,402 1-2 milos of w i re. This work was seattered over 33 States and Territorios (31 includiag the Indiun Territiiry.) In additdon to this the Company strunp 832 miles of wiro (489 miles of poles) nlong tho turnpiko und country roads, making a total of 3,143 milos of poles, and 11,301 milos of w.iro erocted clurinp; 1871. This inakes an aggrogate of 131,913 milos of wire, along 93 differimiI radwsve. This will givo a totul of 141,444 miles of wire in use at tho closo of the current yoar. ■
