líy a series of the most gigautic frauda ever perpetrated in a State, (Jaldwell, the Graut candidato for Govornor in North Carolina, has been declarod elected by a nominal majority, tliough we have not tho slightest doubt that the Legislatura of the State when it assembles will, after due investigai ion, set liis election aside, and instal Judgo Merrimon in the position to which he was honestly elected by the vote of the people. But whether this should be done or not, it is made more manifest every day that Horace Groeley will carry the State by a rousing majority in November. Before the eleetion was held it was statod that many Kepublicans who wereheartand soul with the Liberal movement were pledged to the support of the Caldwoll State ticket, tho ticket of both parties having been placed in the field prior to the Cincinnati Conveniion. Thousands of Liberáis voted for Judgo Morrimon, but many othors, fettered by their pledges, though they know the canvass had resolved iteelf in a great measure into a contest between Greeley and Grant, voted for Caldwell. liut already these mon aro beginning to announce themselves. One of tho most prominent is Hon. Wm. M. Coleman, olected by the Eepublicans of North Carolina General in 186S, and raany othors have done as ho har, whilo the examplos thus set will be quickly followed by hundreds of other prominent men. In November the administrationists will need all the votes they have in Virginia and South Carolina, and will not bo able to import any into North Carolina, so that the voto in the latter State will bo a fair one, and this, with the accossions to Liberalism which are daily taking place, insures a large majority for
