As is consistent with his high position, he takes no part in the present ouiitost; but is, nevortheless, very frank and unreservt'd in the expression of tho opi - ion thatthe eleution of Greeley would be detrimental to the business interosts of the country. For this reason he prefere Grant. - iV. Y. Times. Tho foregoing pajagraph, and othors of a kindred character, have been frooly circulated by the Grant organs, without any better reason than that i!i wis'n is father of the thoaght. The above paragraph is taken from tlio Washington Daily Patriot of the 9th inst., and in order to havo somothing authoritative from Judgo ;tvis on the subject, 1 yesterday callod his attontion to it, and he authorized me to say that his position on the l'residontial question is correctly stated therein, by the editor oí tho Patriot. He further says he nevor entertained the thought of not abiding in good faith tho rosult of the Cinuiunati Convontion, and that ho intonds to vote for Mr. Greeley. A dispatch from this city on this subject, which appeared in the InterOcean of the 9th inst., presonts an additional reason for asking you to give tho foregoing a placo in the Tribune.
