The unanimous nomination of HrUAM J. Beakes for Representativo, mado by the First District Convontion on Wednesday, filis tho local ticket. And it was a nomination eminently fit to bo made. Judge Beakes is wcll known, throughout the district, perhapa pereonally to evory voter, cortainly to tho large inajority of them. An ablo lawyer, an experienccd lcgislator, a faithful ofiBcer, ho will do tho district and tho State good and intelligent service if elected. He enters the campaign with the odds against him, and not from his own choice, which makes it the more the duty of the Demooraoy to give him a gonorous and hearty support. To tho work and elect him if possible. The Courier says that Mr. Cheever, the Eopublican candidato for Judgo of Probate, " has tho inBido track." Perhaps he has : ho is a worthy young man, and if the Republicans carry the county entitlod to au election. Uut we adviso Demócrata to turn a doaf ear whon thoy are askcd to voto against Gov. Felch becauso he is old in politics, has had offico, or doosn't nood tho salary. If the Pemocraoy or tho peoplo havo given him oflico it was becauso they wantod his services, and ho has been aominated now for the samo reason and not from any desiro or solicitation of hia own. Ho has always servcd tho peoplo faithfully and wull in whatever position ho ha3 been placed, and will do so as Judgo of Probate if olectod. It is an offico for which he is peculiarly fitted, and it would disgrace tho Democracy of tho county to have him dcfoated by running bohind his ticket. Ilememler this when asied topul %stip oter thi name of Alpheus Felch. - In Indiana, Hendricks has a msjority óf 1,148 ; Hopkins, Domocrat, for Superintendent of Schools, 977 ; and the rest of the State officers elected are Kepnblicans and havo raajorities from 18-1 to 783. Kerr, Democrat, for Congrcssinan-at-largo waa beaten but 162. A dogo sha vu.
