Tlic entertainment opened with a recitatiOn by Mrs. Gilmore- "The Earl King," with thc müsic by Prof. MoEitis. This was followed by Bell'sgronp of statuary- " America," exhibitcd by Proi. Douolass, by means of a fine stcreoptícon. " Pncta Niííhtly Pranks "-nine pictures - recitad by Mrs. Ctilmobe, weio very grapMc. Bunis "Aildrfss to the Toothache," read by Prof. Waltee, aud illustrated. Then fóllowed Watt's First Experience ín Stcam," Animálculo in Water, Formation of Crystals, Spectrum Analj'.sis, Heatin'; and Ventilátion, by Prof. Douglass. The soug of "John Andcrson," which never íaüs to give plcasuro when well sung, was reudered with moro than usual sweetness by Mrs. Bliss, with piano accompaniment by Mr. Faibbanks. Keynard thc Fox," 10 illustrations, by Kaulbaoh, called forth hmch enthusiasm. Thc almost human expression of the different animáis remind one very strikingly of those inimitable illustrations in Eli.ur Wright's translation of Lafontain'a Tables. " Shakspoare's Serón Ages," recitad and illustrated; "l'our Perioda of College Liie," illnsfrated by a college artist, and songs, elicited more or less applause. The oloting íllusti-ation was a picasant surprise to all, and was much admired for its ingenuity. As tho Professur remarked, tho subject was one in whoin all present feit a special interest : "The Guardian Anyel," by "VVestmacott. Instrumental music by Mr. Faiüüaxks, tinishcd this pleasant evening. Tho Library Board was called together immediately after the foregoing, aud on motion, it was unaiiimously Resolved, That the wormest thanks of the Association be given to Prof. Douölass for bcBtowing his time and eSorts in making the entertainment so successful, and alsu to all those who assisted in the exereises of the eveniug. The proceeds, we aro happy to say, amounted to abuut fifty dollars. Bv order of the Board.
