The Euv. Dr. Peabody, in a late essay, touches upon this delicate subject after the following fashion : Tho truth is tlial the greatest proportion of the so-called incoinpatibilities and uncongenialties oi doiuestic life -which are so ofton made the grounds for disruptiou of the matrimonial bond are inadmissible as a justifying ground for any such dissolution, and could be feadily overeóme and blotted out of existentie if the parties most concerncd had only the will to do it. A couplo are no sooner married than thov find that diiïerences of opinión and mutual jiir ensvre; and all is not gold that glistpned ; and then one or both straightway imagine that thero is no remedy but the ruthleSsly breaking the soleinn, sacred tie that binds them. A vague, restloss feeling seizes upon one or both, producing diseontent engendering a ceitain tbought of present bondage, wbich exists ouly in fancy and creating a feverish desire for other associates and spheres which are supposed to be more fitted and providentially for the miud and heart. No escape, it is said, but in cutting the knot. It is a delnsion. The marriage relatiou, iñ all its history, was nevcr expected, perhaps, to be entirely free from misunderstanding and diaóords. Foolish to thmk that wholo mntüal lifo can fiow and, like the pearly stream, without a ripple or eddy. Home is a school, a discipline, whcreby husband and wifc are to grow into each other, getting rid of their angularities, harmonizing their peculiar characteristC8, and mere and inore becoming one thought, sympathy and life. The true blesseduess of wedded noulü is not insured by a simplg exchange cf plighted faith. It comes through and after raany a self denial, and many a crucifixión of the will, many a scourging of the resentment, pride, tanity; and pas sions of the Heart. iï, is trae here, as in other relations, that he who saveth his life shalllose it and he that loseth his life shall savo it.
