From the Detroit Tree Press. Michigan Centbal Yahds, Monday.March 3. The lucal reoeipts continue to deercase each week, indicating the tone of the ïnarket and the scarcity of live stock throughout the State. The lots held in contract have been shipped to Eastern markets ir? consequence of the long-continued severity of the winter, and drovers experience considerable trouble in niaking purchases under the present decline in prices. The receipts of the week, and also of tho three preceding months, are given below : Ciittle. Hors. Sheep. Week onding Marcli 3 117 642 1,1)90 llonth of December. 1872 2,031 28,908 13.S33 Month of January, 1873 1,957 KI.O26 13,774 Month of i'ebruury, 1873 1,788 5,UUó 11,332 Totul for three months 5.7S6 45,499 38,042 CATTLK. But few lots in the yards were offered, and these very light. The prices ruling during yesterday's market were about as given in last week's quotations. Shippers care butlittleto advance the rates, and the market in the East continúes fluctuating, and the shipment of cattle depending upon lucky ales. The yards were filled with through cattle, destined for the principal cities of the East, and during the week 1,612 head were transhipped here - contracted lots forced upon the markets. Locally, there ia uo spirit in the business of buying cattle, and mauy drovers have abandonad the field altogether. Under sales made we quote : Chuice to extra, Rveragiiig 1,260 to 1,600 lb"., ia Lo6d tlesli and buüd $5 25@5 75 Cuminou to cholee, averaging 1,000 to 1,200 lts , in medium ilesh und build... . 4 C0@4 75 H0G3. But three lots were in the pens, and these of all shades of color and weight. The sortiug ol thum into classified lots becomesan impossibility as the erop becomes exhausted. ChoicC store hogs are seldom Been, the incroased prices tempting farmers to sell their shotes and light hogs, which form the larger portion of every lot. This class of live stock is the only thing left in that line that does not depend upon circumstances to secure good proíite.
