After a few remarka Mr. Putnam oflered a resol ut ion for the appointment of a special cominittee to investígate tho ohargea of bribery made by the Cinoinnati Commercial aguinst membera of the Kenate in connection with thig bill, and that that eommittee sit with open doors. After ameuding the resolution so as to include au investigation of the cbargea made by the Cinoin nati l'lnqiúrer in relation to oertain Sena' tor, the resolution v:i dopte4, Messrs. Putnam, Updsgraff, itrlbk and Gardner wero appointed s:iid investiga tion oommittee.
