-I havo washed ïiifiiiy trees witU suft soap and water, half-and-half, and never biyw any mjuiious effects arise from it ; but on the contrary, trees so washed, could be pickod out from uthers not waahed, b' their healthy appesrance and freedom from moss and suale lice. I usuftlly .npply it in early spring, and also in the snmmer aftor r.o moss or lice can be found on the trees. Some orehardists aboi't hre use water with like beneficial vetnlt. I saw last autumn an orchard of f'our or five hundred young apple trees that had been treated with a liine-water wash, and they were certainly as thrifty and as free from moss and insects os any trees I ever saw. I have never used anything but soft soap and water for a wash, and this I know has no injurious effects upon the tiees. - Cor. Rural Home. To Stop the Eavages of Motits. - Camphor will not stop the ravages of moths in cárpete, after they havo commenced eating. Then they have no regard to the presence of camphor, óedar or tobáceo A good way to cmquerthen; is to take a coars-e crash towel and wring it out of clean water Spread it smoothly on the carpet, then iron it dry with a trood hot iron, repea tin g the operation on all suspected places, and those least used. It does not injnre the pile or the color oí' the carpet in the lf-ast, as it is not necessary to pi'ess hard, heat and steam being the agents and they do thu work effectually on worms and eggs. Then the camphor will doubtless prevent futuro dopredations of the niiller.
