One of tho romantic incidents of the terrible Atlantic calamity has beet the diacovery that ode of the men, a coumion sailor, and one who?e life was sacrificad in efforts to save others, was a younp woman of about twenty years of age ! Her sex was not known nntil her hody was washed ashor and the rude clothing removed, prpparatory for burial. She hcd served n a common Gailor for throe Toyages, ar.d was a favorito shipmnte with all. She is described as haviiiK fewer of tee sailor's vices than is usUftl, but shewas, novertheless, as jolly an old tar as any of them. One of the survivors of tlie crew, in gpeakins of her reraarked : "I didn't know Bill-waa a woman. He wsed to take his liquor as regular as any one of us, and hc was always begging nwl steaíing tobáceo. Ho was a good ftllow, thaug'u, and I urn sorry he was a woman." The most singular part of the whole gtory is that the wom;mfwasan Aniorican, and was nbout the only one of that tiationality belonginfr to the crew. Who ahe was. and where sho came froin" and her motive for leading such a strange life of hardship, aro uttorly unknown, and vill doubtless alwaj's reniain so.
