By whom and from whose grave was it removed ? "Who can answer? . - We notice in our rambles around the city tfcnt (l.o cows of those "poor widows" and 14ennen doii'c keep the strfletvceeds c!osc!ycropred. We suggest impounding for contempt of thecommittee which designated that to be a part of their delightful duties, and in consideration of which they were guarantced the freedom of tlie city. _A cow or two belonging to some aldcrman or some alderman's special protege, a "poor widow," foraged extensively upon several gardens on State street during Saturday night last, and this despite good fences and gatea. In our grounds a patch of early corn went to keep cOmpany witli street grass and weeds (r) ; one plnm and three peach trees were browsed upon uid permanently injured ; a fine large white piuc was despoïled of its lower branches - out of mere cussedness; and several hedge plauts brokendown. The damage would more than pay our proportion of tax if all the cows in the !ty were pastured at the public expense. For &H oí which we shall render a bül against the ;ity, holding it both morally and legally liable for the neglect of its officcrs to enforce the laws of both city and State. It is much pleasanter to speak words of commendatiou than disapproval, to praise than to censure. We are, therefore, glad to say that the reports we get of the order maintained at the supper of the Freshman Class on Friday evcuing last, teil well for a class vrhich - the yoragest in y ais and s'.uly - has had the e: - ampie of bad precedente. We are advised by one who ought to know that no wiue or liquors wcre caled for or drank on the occasion, which w! i :h wil! account for the good order and courtesy which prevailed in the supper room, and the neglect to make night hideous with unearthly howla thereafter. It is but right to say that this abstemious and manly conduct is attnbuted to the presence and participation of the ladies oí the class on the festive occasion. TheArbeiter Verein (Workingmen's Associition) of this city give a picnic celebration on tte coming Fourth of July, Friday next, in Relief Park. Bishop's Opera House Band (Detroit) has been engaged for the occasion. In the forenoon a procession will take place, forming at the Arbeiter Hall and passing through the principal streets to the Park. This association devotes its funda to the care of the sick tai the relief of the needy, and our citizens hould therefore deern it a pleasure to give it liberal patronage.
